Our History
Chisholms of Troy Coastal Cottages and Suites sit on a 100 acre ancestral oceanfront farm property here on Route 19 in Troy, Cape Breton Island. Your host and owner, James Mac Donald is a member of the sixth generation of the Chisholm family on this property, first settled in the very early 1800s by Anne Chisholm and her immigrant family from Scotland. A working farm until the early 1990s, the property has been brought back to life as a four-star Canada Select rated cottage and suite property. The original home built almost two hundred years ago has been lovingly restored to original design and the barn now converted to our office and four courtyard suites.
